How to find the Perfect Wedding Videographer?

So where do you start in your search to find the perfect wedding videographer? If you speak to any of my previous clients, one thing I always say is “there is a videographer for everyone”. While my ego likes to think I am the videographer for every couple, that really isn’t the case. There are so many different styles of wedding videography in Ireland across the world. What one couple may like, another may hate.

The first thing to look at is what style of video do you want. Do you want to ensure you receive all of your speeches? Do you want a 4 hour film (apparently that is a thing)? Or do you just want a 5 minute highlight from the day. Do you want it to be cinematic and slow ? Documentary style and upbeat? The list goes on and on.

Get to know your videographer – This is surprisingly important. You spend so much time with your wedding videographer and photographer. Try to ensure you have a connection with them. Not that you want to spend the rest of your life with them but that you feel at ease in their company. I have a call with ALL couples before I take a deposit off anyone.

Read reviews – All reputable wedding videographer will have some form of a way to review be it on their Facebook page or on Google. It’s a fantastic way to vet your videographer before you decide on who to go with.

What is included – Please ensure you have a full understanding of exactly what will and will not be in your film. Unfortunately for all of my couples I outline everything that will be included in their film and what potentially won’t be. For instance in a religious ceremony I typically don’t film the Gospel. I once had a Priest who asked me not to doing it going forward as it was a deeply sacred part of the mass and he would prefer if it was not filmed.

So where do you start your search? I will start by listing my favourite wedding videographer (in no particular order)

Keith Malone

Keith is like the OG of Irish Wedding Videography. Keith has been at the cornerstone of the industry advocating and introducing us to our peers all over the country.

Platinum Pictures

When I was starting out Sharon helped me anyway she could and I am forever grateful to her for all she has done over the year. Sharon’s wedding films are full of timeless elegance and she is one of the kindest people I have ever met.

Little Bear Film

Kevin from Little Bear Films is an absolute PRO. Not only are his weddings incredible but he is a really nice guy and incredibly approachable. Kevin is also an absolute whizzkid at SEO and website development so I won’t tell him I am featuring in this list, he will pick it up soon enough 🙂
